Europeans have shown unity in response to new US President Donald Trump duties. On Monday, this in Luxembourg after the EU Council for Foreign Affairs – the Trade Segment said the Minister of Economy Denisa Saková (Voice -SD), informs TASR.
Among other things, the Council of Ministers also dealt with measures from the EU on duties introduced and introduced by administration. “Europe is absolutely uniform in this. European leaders have agreed that other continents have to look for other options. For example, the finalization of a barrier -free trade agreement with Latin America would certainly help the European market,” She stated with reference to the free trade agreement between the EU and the Mercosur countries, which is waiting for ratification.
She added that there are also rapidly developing countries of Asia, including China, who, in her opinion, “is and will be the world economic power”. In this context, she expressed the hope that a recent visit to the European Commissioner for Trade Maroš Šefčovič at the end of March will be beneficial for the European market and the European economy. “China offers great opportunities and it’s about having a constructive dialogue and not to lose this market,” the minister bequeathed.
Sakova pointed out the conclusions of the ministerial negotiations that the EU could be sufficient for itself, provided that the internal European trade would increase by more than two percent. “This would make up for all European producers in the form of EUR 80 billion, which they have to pay on duties to export their products to the United States,” explained.
In her words, Šefčovič said at a meeting with EU ministers that negotiations with the US party will continue, while Member States will be operatively informed about their results.
