Veronika Žilková was born on 16 October 1961 in Prague. He comes from a family of teacher and flutist Václav Žilka. She became part of the Chorea Bohemica dance and music ensemble as a 17-year-old. After graduation at the grammar school, she first started to study psychology, but eventually elected the Faculty of Theater Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she completed the acting field in 1985.
