Thistles and other annoying weeds are growing at lightning speed and you are not enough to run around the garden to get rid of them? Then you will probably be pleased with the excellent idea of experienced gardeners. It will be enough if you drop one inconspicuous perennial in the garden, which will take care of the weed for you.
This plant is at home in North America, but over time also occupies European gardens. Why? Gardeners plant it as an excellent helper in the fight against weeds. It is a Carolina cake (Geranium Carolinianum). We should know how and why it works so that we can use it as efficiently as possible.

It reduces the need to use any herbicides to a minimum. So we will be pleased to look at the new, practically maintenance -free plants, the garden will get rid of weeds and nature will not suffer from the need to use chemistry in the struggle for harvest. What more can we wish?

In fact, there are other advantages of growing the Karolinský cake, which we have not mentioned yet. Its flowers literally love bees, butterflies and other useful insects that (if they arrive in the garden) will also help pollinate other flowers and thus increase the crop. So we can say with a clear conscience that by planting cakes you will contribute to a larger harvest.
It’s unpretentious, but …
Although the cake is relatively unpretentious for cultivation, we should give it certain conditions. It is mainly a sunny or semi -shaped habitat with a well -permeable soil and a slightly acidic pH. This is actually all, because this herb is able to tolerate drier conditions and survive the frosts without major problems. Next year, her clumps will be even more powerful and useful than this year.
You have to tame it, otherwise it will grow over your head
It seems that cakes have no mistakes, but we would find one after all. We have to be very careful about how fast it is growing. It is an expansive plant that would soon grow the whole garden without restriction. The problem can also be its even worse availability.
