The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) admitted that there was an error in the penalty mark marked by referee Bruno Arleu de Araújo in favor of Palmeiras in the last minutes of the match against Sport, in Recife, this Sunday (6), valid for the second round of the Brazilian Championship. The game ended with the victory of the São Paulo team 2-1.
The information is contained in the opinion of CCEI (Advisory Committee of International Specialists), released by the CBF Arbitration Committee.
Experts point to the opinion that there was no shortage in the bid, 42 minutes into the second half, when Raphael Veiga invades the area and is played by the defender Mathes Alexandre. Uruguayan Piquerez went to charge and converted.
“The three components of the International Committee have come to the conclusion that there is a dispute action between the striker and the defender within the criminal area. The Sport team defender makes an entrance to the ball, reaching a minimum contact at the end of the foot of the attacker and later maintains his foot to the floor. Thus, a light and inevitable contact is produced by its own action. Justify the marked infraction, “says the opinion.
“The contact is accidental, consequently, the ball hits the attacker’s right leg unbalanced him and causing the fall, a clear situation for the assistance of the assistant video referee,” the document continues.
Video arbitration, under the responsibility of Rodrigo Nunes de Sá, corroborated the judge’s understanding.
On Monday (7), the CBF had announced the removal of the field arbitration teams and the VAR that played in the match.
The CCEI is formed by former referees Nestor Pitana, Nicola Rizolli and Sandro Meira Ricci and has the function of evaluating the decisions made by the referees in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship and the Brazilian Cup.
Evaluations may occur from a request from the clubs or at the initiative of the arbitration committee itself. When triggered, the CCEI has up to 48 hours for the publication of the opinion.
“Unfortunately, there are times to instruct, curb and also to push away. At this time, the Arbitration Commission removes the teams from the matches in which, in CCEI’s view, there were misconceptions,” said Rodrigo Cintra, chairman of the CBF Arbitration Commission.
In addition to the referees of the match between Sport and Palmeiras, the fields of Campo and VAR of the duel between Internacional and Cruzeiro were also removed. The game in Beira-Rio was marked by the expulsion of Jonathan Jesus, from Cruzeiro, 20 minutes into the first half, when the game was 0-0. Colorado won 3-0.
“The components of the International Committee have come to the conclusion that there is no impact action by the number 34 defender of the Cruzeiro team. The game produces interpretative disputes and, in the case of this specific bid, contact between athletes, whether on the back or below, is the result of normal match actions,” says the CCEI opinion.
The match between Inter and Cruzeiro was whistled by referee Marcelo de Lima Henrique, with assistants Nailton Junior de Sousa Oliveira and Renan Aguiar da Costa, as well as Daiane Muniz in VAR.
The CBF also announced that the main referees and assistants who work in Serie A of the Brazilian Championship will participate in training from next week. Players of base categories of Rio’s football will simulate games for the commission to train the referees.
“The goal is to do all the field work, arbitration mechanics, game simulation with our team of instructors,” said Rodrigo Cintra.
