Russian sensors have been hidden in the waters surrounding Britain. As reported by the media it is believed that they are part of an effort to spy on the nuclear submarines of the United Kingdom.
The British army has discovered several of these sensors after being dragged to the coast, and the British Royal Navy has identified more. It is believed that Moscow installed these devices to collect information about the four avant -garde submarines of the United Kingdom, which carry nuclear missiles as part of the British continuing deterrence on the high seas.
“There should be no doubt: there is a war in the Atlantic. It is a game of the cat and the mouse that has continued since the end of the cold war and that is now intensifying again. We are witnessing an extraordinary increase in Russian activity,” said a senior British military officer to the Sunday Times. The country’s ministry of defense has kept the details of the discovery and this British media decided not to publish information about the location of the sensors.
But Russia have gone beyond the sensors. The investigation reveals that unmanned Russian vehicles have been found near deep water communications cables. The Ministry of Defense has also discovered other sensors in the seabed, which generates concern about the ability to monitor the movements of the United Kingdom nuclear submarines.
The research suggests that the Russian military program, in particular its Yantar Water Research Ship, represents a significant threat to British underwater infrastructure. The Yantar, equipped with unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) and Minisubmarinos, has been sighted near Internet cables and essential data centers.
The United Kingdom’s response includes the deployment of RFA Proteus, a deep -waters surveillance ship, in charge of counteracting Russian threats in national waters. The Proteus, operational since 2023, is the only surface vessel capable of patrol
