Military Police prevents the execution of man held hostage by criminal faction in Cruzeiro do Sul

On the morning of Monday (7), a fast action by the Acre Military Police prevented the possible execution of a man being held in private jail by members of a criminal faction in the Vila Lagoinha community in Cruzeiro do Sul. Three suspects were arrested in the act during the operation.

According to information from the 6th Military Police Battalion, an anonymous complaint pointed out that a citizen was being held hostage and would submit to a “judgment” by alleged thefts committed in the region. The faction would have determined the death of the victim as a form of punishment.

Given the severity of the situation, a team from the Environmental Policing Platoon was sent to the scene. Upon arriving, the police found a crowd of people in front of a residence. During the approach, it was found that the owner of the property had an open arrest warrant, which was immediately served.

Inside the house, the agents located the victim, who confirmed that he was kidnapped the day before. According to the man’s report, he even escaped momentarily, but was recaptured by the criminal group, which informed him that the “death sentence” would be executed by one of the members of the faction.

In addition to the residence owner, two other suspects were arrested. Both the detainees and the victim were sent to the General Civil Police Station for legal proceedings. Police have already identified others involved in the crime, who are running out.

Investigations continue to locate and arrest the others involved in the kidnapping and attempted murder.
