New rates on Chinese imports to the United States will rise to 104% on Wednesday (9), the This Tuesday (8), fulfilling a threat from the president. The Republican announced last week that their new customs tariffs will reach 54% of Chinese products from Wednesday, and threatened to increase them by another 50% if China retaliated. Beijing decided to impose a 34% tax on American products from Thursday.
“President wants to make a deal with, but don’t know how to start,” White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said at a news conference on Tuesday (8). “If China makes an agreement, president will be affable,” he said. Leavitt said the negotiations about tariffs will prioritize allies and partners.
The negotiations will be in the One-Stop (complete) model, which means that the military presence and foreign aid will be points considered in discussions about tariffs, said the spokesman. Leavitt also said that they are in progress to talk about tariffs with Israel. Regarding Iran, the spokesman said Saturday negotiations will be direct.
