The Tatra National Park (TANAP) appeals to visitors from sites affected by the drool and coffin virus (SLAK) to consider their stay in the Tatra National Park at the time of the spread of the virus. It points out this on the social network and recalls that Slak is a contagious disease that affects both domestic and wild animals.
“People can be carriers of this virus and thus contribute to its spread if strict hygiene measures are not followed, especially when moving people between different areas,” Reminds TANAP.
It also explains that Chamois of the Highland Tatranský is an endemic species occurring in TANAP and the virus can be infected. “It is therefore important that we respect its natural environment and ensure protection,” explains TANAP.
The carrier of a viral disease can also be a home four -legged pet, which will bring it to the wild. Therefore, TANAP particularly calls for visitors from the affected sites accompanied by a dog to consider and comply with all hygiene measures. “It is very important to prevent the spread of the virus for the protection of nature and populations of Tatra animals,” appeals TANAP.
