Trump says the EU will have to buy energy to the US

At the same press conference, Trump took the opportunity to advance that Japan will send a team for trade negotiations

United States President Donald Trump says that the sale of energy to the European Union will be a key focus on tariff negotiations, as his administration seeks to eliminate a commercial deficit with the block.

“The European Union has been very bad for us,” he said, once again, Trump to journalists in the White House, where he was meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing European nations of not buying enough American goods.

“They will have to buy us energy, because they need it and will have to buy it. They can buy it,” he insisted.

Trump also took advantage of journalists to move forward that Japan will send a team to trade negotiations. The visit comes after the country’s prime minister, Shigero Ishiba, spoke this Monday with the US President, where he will have asked tariff policies to be rethought, according to.

Trump’s decision to impose a 25% rate on car imports, and a 24% reciprocal tariff over other Japanese products, should cause a large blow to the Japanese economy. Analysts foresee that increased customs rights can reduce economic growth to 0.8%.
