Do not throw away the remnants of the campfire

What can help rose so much? We are talking about a very ordinary wooden ash, which will remain after a campfire or roasting sausages. Although we usually consider it waste, this material has a lot of useful properties and contains a large number of beneficial elements. So we should not deprive roses of it.

Put the ashes under the rose

How best to apply ash to roses? It is not complicated, simply pour it into a hollow pit, ready to plant pink shrubs. The pit needs to be sufficiently spacious, so that both the root ball and other material that you fastening in the ground – the corresponding substrate can fit comfortably.

Should not be in contact with the roots

Pour the approximately larger handful of wood ash on the bottom of the pit and sprinkle it with at least a fine layer of substrate. The point is that the roots do not come into direct contact with it, because they could “burn”. Of course, we do not think of a high temperature now, but a large content of minerals that could harm the roots in one dose. We need beneficial substances to gradually relax and the plants receive them together with moisture.

Take care of the rush about the drinking regime

In order to actively decompose the ash into individual elements and they could serve as nutrition, of course, it will be necessary to water every plant after planting and oversee its “drinking regime” in the coming days and weeks. This is the only way to ensure that the plant is set in a new place and its future prosperity. After about half a year we can add another dose of ash, this time only to the excavated circle around the center of the rose. Create a groove of about two centimeters deep, pour another handful of ash into it evenly and sprinkle with a substrate. As in the first case, this time the minerals will gradually release and supply the plant.

Minerals are necessary

Which elements can we expect from the ashes? It is mainly phosphorus that will take care of the health of the root system. This is, as we know, important for the overall health and nutrition of the plant, ie for all the processes that take place in it. Magnesium then promotes photosynthesis and protects plants from diseases, while calcium contributes to better absorption of nutrients by its action on pH soil. In the end, we must not forget the potassium and its importance in the preparation and flowering of plants, including roses that we grow for beautiful flowers.

Choose the right ash

Ash fertilization is a clear win for roses, but we have to be careful not to be really good material. You ask how it may happen that the ashes will not be of good quality? Just throw a lacquered or otherwise impregnated board into the fire – and the problem is in the world. The miracles that this simple advice brings, but certainly is worth a little caution and perhaps even work with wood sorting…
