DJ Alok, 33, is the only Brazilian attraction of the 24th edition of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which takes place in the next two weekends (12, 13, 19 and 20 April) at Empire Polo Club, in the city of Indio, California.
The Goiano returns to the event, considered one of the main festivals of world music, and will perform on the stage of Sahara Tent, on April 12 and 19. For the shows, he prepared, alongside the Urban Theory group, an exclusive performance that is being rehearsed by the artist’s creative team in a studio located in Los Angeles.
The proposal is to use tutting – style marked by the formation of geometric patterns with the arms – to create a human interactive panel composed of 50 dancers in complete synchronization with the DJ set. The Brazilian also prepared two scenographic hands created by Swedish artist Alexander Hesse, who will fulfill the role of inviting the public to approach what happens on stage.
The idea, according to Alok, is to reinforce the message of the connection between the public and the artist and highlight the importance of each individual within the construction of the whole show.
