Commission approves gun possession for women with protective measure

Project authorizes that weapon stay at the owner’s residence; Text goes to the Senate Public Security Commission

A (Senate Human Rights Commission) approved, on Wednesday (9.ab.2025), PL (Bill) 3272 of 2024, which allows the possession of weapon for women over 18 -year -olds to measure urgent protective. The project now goes to the (Public Security Commission), in a terminative decision. This is the PL (PDF – 85kb).

The protective measures of emergency, provided for in theknown as Maria da Penha Lawthey are legal mechanisms designed to protect the integrity and life of girls, adolescents or risk.

They must be requested in cases of domestic and family violence-physical, moral, sexual, patrimonial or psychological-practiced by relatives, companions, former partner or anyone with whom the victim has lived. The request is also indicated whenever the victim feels that his health or life is threatened.

According to the text, the firearm should be at the woman’s residence or home. However, it can be kept in a workplace only if it owns the company or establishment.

The PL is authored by (PL-MT)senator’s alternate (PL-MT).

The rapporteur is the senator (PL-ES), favorable to the project and the amendment of (MDB-SE), which proposed that the authorization to grant the size follow the criteria already present in Article 10 of the Disarmament Statute. Due to da Eminda (PDF-260KB).
