White jumper, or Metcalf Pruinosathis is a dangerous pest that appeared in Poland relatively recently – he came to our gardens from the United States or from the Caribbean in 2020, attacking various types of plants.
The white jumper adapted to the conditions in Poland. He hides eggs in the wood bark for the winter, while larvae hatch in spring. We deal with his adult characters in the summer, and in autumn each of the females lays about 100 eggs.
Adults measure from 7 to 8 mm. Their bodies are covered with white wax fibers. They are also equipped with transparent wings with characteristic, dark spots, folded on the back.
This pest is also characterized by a small head, large eyes and long tentacles. He has legs adapted to jump, so he quickly moves between plants and quickly escapes from predators.
