End of paperwork: There is a new (simpler) way to enter this very sought after tourist destination

From May 1, 2025, one of the world’s most sought after tourist destinations will have a new digital system, mandatory for all foreigners who want to enter the country. This system, called TDAC, replaces the traditional form that travelers used to fill during the flight or arrival at this destination, thus ending with the paperwork. Learn now more in this article.

Thailand digital arrival card (TDAC)

This new procedure is part of the Thai government’s digital transformation strategy. The goal is to make the process of entry into the country faster, simpler and with less paperwork, facilitating the experience of those visiting this paradise destination, whether by plane, boat or terrestrial.

The ADHC will be mandatory for all foreign passport travelers, including tourists, people on business travel and foreign residents with prolonged stays. Only two situations are exempt:

  1. Passengers in transit, who do not go through immigration.
  2. Travelers entering Thailand through a border pass, usually used by inhabitants of border zones.

The form should be completed online up to three days before arrival in the country. For example, if you have a flight scheduled for May 5, you can fill in and submit the ADC from the 2nd. To facilitate the transition, the system will be available from April 28, 2025.

Filling is done through the Thailand Immigration Department. You can submit the form individually or in groups if you travel with family or friends. The system also allows us to update the data before departure if last -minute changes in travel plans.

What does it take to fill the ATDC?
🛂 Passport data
📋 Personal information (name, nationality, date of birth, etc.)
🛬 Flight data and arrival date
🏨 accommodation location in Thailand
🩺 A brief statement about your health

We recommend:

Foreign residents with long stay or permanent residence should select “Thailand” as their country of residence, an option that will be available from the moment the system is active.

Objectives of this measure

The purpose of this measure is to avoid long lines at immigration control posts and reduce waiting time. Still, travelers who are unable to submit the TDAC before the trip will have face -to -face support at airports and border posts, where there will be specific help points to fill the form. However, this support is intended only for exceptional cases and should not be viewed as an alternative to online submission.

This change fits into a set of modernization measures for public services in Thailand, which includes the digitization of entry and exit documents, and has been promoted in collaboration with the Thai Ministry of Immigration.

Don’t forget this new law

If you are planning a trip to this tourist destination after May 2025, the paperwork is over. However, be sure to include digital arrival card filling your task list before departure. Thus it avoids unpleasant surprises and guarantees a quiet entry into the country.

Finally, this procedure does not replace the visa if it is necessary according to the reason and duration of its stay. Always inform yourself with the embassy or consulate of Thailand or at the Official Immigration Portal.
