Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro decreed on Tuesday (8/4), economic emergency in the country. The measure, according to the agent, aims to protect the country from the “trade and economic war and against Venezuela” began by the United States.

According to Maduro, the goal is to “fully protect all productive sectors and ensure balance, harmony, capacity, resistance and recovery, given the circumstances that present themselves in the world”.

The measure grants Maduro, for a period of two months, the faculty of “adding different modalities of public policy” to protect the Venezuelan economy. One of the actions described in the text is the suspension of the collection of all taxes, whether national, state or municipal. The text of the decree was sent to the National Assembly for the consideration of Venezuelan parliamentarians.

The trade war launched by Donald Trump was classified by Maduro as “unpublished” and something that is a threat of commercial aggression against his country, as well as for the world.

Donald Trump’s “tariff” was started last Wednesday (2/8). Trump imposed tariffs at over 100 countries. The large fare applied to Venezuela is 15%. However, the country had already been affected since March, with the taxation of 25% of countries buying oil from Venezuelans.
