In an event of the Parliamentary Front of Free Market, the mayor says the events caused “strong consequences” to the world
The President of the Chamber of Deputies (Republicans-PB) compared on Tuesday (8.abr.br.2025) the tariff of the President of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), when al-Qaeda extremists kidnapped airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against the twins in New York, resulting in the death of nearly 3,000 people.
“We had 2 recent milestones in world economic history: one was the attack there from the twin towers on September 11, 2001, and now April 2, 2025. Two events, 2 scenarios that generate very strong repercussions and economic consequences for us.”declared Motta during the inauguration of the president of the parliamentary front of the free market, deputy (PL-SC).
Deputy Paraíba also defended free trade and classified the current moment as a “Economic backwardness”.
“With everything that has been happening in the world, in my assessment, with the economic setback, with the new reality of imposition of tariffs, we are setting aside the free market, multilateralism, to backward and return to the policy of bilateralism and economic protectionism.”these.

On April 2, as part of the commercial “reciprocity” policy adopted by the White House, Trump announced a series of rates on products from other countries. The country imposed one on Brazilian imported products.
The intention of the Republican is to strengthen national industry and to pressure countries to reduce their own rates on US products. Trump called the date of “Liberation Day”.
