Ukraine launched an offensive in the Russian Belgorod region to prevent attacks on the Kharkov and Such region, said President Zelenskyj.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Genskyj said on Wednesday that Kiev’s forces had launched an offensive in the Russian Belgod region, TASR writes, according to AFP report.
“The steps we are taking towards Belgorod are serving to prevent the Russians from attacking new attacks towards Kharkov or Suma (area),” he told Zeranskyj to the briefing in Kiev.
The Ukrainian head of state also stated that the country is interested in buying a “big package” of American weapons. “We want to do it and we are ready,” the president said. “We were able to find 30 or 50 billion (dollars)” for purchase, he specified.
Greeding also commented on the alleged deployment of Chinese soldiers on the side of Russia. “This is the second mistake Russia made. The first was North Korea. I think they have now dragged China to this war,” the president told reporters. He announced that Ukraine is ready to replace two detainee Chinese troops with Ukrainian prisoners. According to him, Kiev has data on at least 155 Chinese citizens who were sent to the front.
China rejects the accusations
On Wednesday, China rejected the “absolutely unsubstant” claim of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greeny that “many” Chinese citizens fought alongside Russian forces in the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged its citizens to avoid conflict zones and not engage in military disputes.
In mid -October 2024, the South Korean intelligence announced that North Korea had decided to send more than 10,000 its troops to Russia to support it in the war with Ukraine. Soon there were reports that they arrived in Russia and sent them to the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces unexpectedly invaded in August and occupied parts of this area.
