Slightly hazelnut taste of asparagus is not only reserved for gurmets, we should all get used to it for our own good. It doesn’t even work too much, and not at all, because whoever tastes this delicacy once, it is hard to give her away. The main season of asparagus is from the turn of April and May to June, but the first pieces are already discovered in shops in March, although it is mainly imports from warmer areas of Europe.

Asparagus is definitely not just an imported crop, in our country it has a long history dating back to the 19th century. Already at that time, for example, it was grown in Hostín near Vojkovice in the Mělník region, ie in the fertile Polabské lowland, which at that time was even the largest producer of asparagus in Central Europe. Local farmers even supplied local crops to the Viennese rules of the Vienna, or to the renowned Parisian restaurants.
How much does the asparagus cost?
Only few people grow asparagus in their own garden, so let’s see in which price ranges this vegetable is moving in 2025 for the time being. Individual chains differ in its prices only relatively little, so we can consider an average of 50 CZK per half -kilo package if we find asparagus in action. If we are not so lucky, then we pay approximately 75 CZK for the same package, which means 150 CZK per kilogram. The price depends on its quality and the area from which it comes.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to determine the price of asparagus in the markets, everyone appreciates it differently, and prices are sometimes changed even during the day according to the quality and possible sale of the last bundles. In general, however, it is possible to say that here is similar to the non -accurate sales in the store. In addition to these places, you can even get asparagus directly on the farm.

If you choose the already mentioned hostin, then know that the asparagus season begins in mid-April and lasts until June. The price here has been from ninety crowns (up to more than two hundred) per kilogram, but you have an exceptional opportunity to choose from many variants, both green and white asparagus.
A simple healthy recipe
Would you like to taste asparagus, but do not know how to best adjust it? Perhaps one of the simplest recipes, such as lentil salad with radish and asparagus, will be enough to start. In this case, just cook the “bite” lens in salted water, drain it, cut asparagus and radishes into thin wheels, mix everything together, add fresh herbs (marjoram, basil, oregano, lovage, or others).

In the raw state, you will enjoy the taste of asparagus best and also use the maximum of its positive effect on the body.
