SAO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS)-The Government of China issued on Wednesday (9) a risk alert to its citizens who intend to travel to the United States in the face of tension escalation between the two countries after tariff announcement.
Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the country has asked Chinese to reevaluate trips. “Recently, due to the deterioration of economic and commercial relations between China and the US and the internal security situation in the United States, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds the Chinese tourists to completely evaluate the risk of traveling to the United States and traveling with caution,” he wrote.
The recommendation was made through a statement published on the folder website. Hours earlier, Beijing has announced that he has increased again the tariff applied to US products, which will now be 84% in retaliation for US President Donald Trump’s rates.
China had an increased reciprocal fare after reaction. Originally, Trump had determined a total of 54% of rates (20% in force since February, plus 10% that began to apply on Saturday and another 24% scheduled for today). However, as China then determined a 34% retaliation for American products, Trump “doubled the bet” and announced another 50%, totaling up to 104% rates.
In response, Chinese reported that 34% reprisal rose to 84%. On the social network Truth, Trump said shortly after the Chinese announcement that is “a great time to move his business to the United States, such as Apple and so much others are doing.”
Tariffs come into force
From today, the new values of the rates defined by the American begins to be effective. US tariff policy against the world is divided into comprehensive tariffs and reciprocal tariffs. The comprehensive ones began to be charged on Saturday, while the reciprocal ones are valid today. If goods are on their way to the US, but they came out ahead of time, they will follow the valid rules so far.
