Democrats ask Elon Musk’s resignation from Trump’s administration by 30 May, referring to the legal deadline for civil servants.

A group of 77 Democrats in the House of Representatives of the US Congress launched a coordinated campaign to achieve that billionaire Elon Musk until 30 May end its work in the President’s administration. TASR informs about this on Wednesday’s Axios report.

Democrats refer to the statutory deadline for special civil servants, such as MUSK, who can work for a maximum of 130 days a year for the government.

Ultimatum for Muska

“We require your administration to immediately issue a public statement that will clearly state that Musk will resign by 30 May and give up all the decision -making powers, as required by law,” says Democrats addressed to Trump.

Its authors also write that they will not allow Musk to return as a special government employee “without surrendering to his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX”.

Public pressure is rising

“We have made it clear that the public pressure on the Republican Party will now be to 30 May,” said Democrat Gregory Casar, representing the state of Texas, for Axios Democrat. According to him, the Democrats have legal and political instruments at their disposal and take advantage of all the possibilities of public pressure to force Musk to leave the office.

Elon Musk is one of Donald Trump’s nearest advisors. Since January, the Temporary State Administration Efficiency Authority (DOGE) has been leading, whose declared aim is to limit uneconomical and unauthorized federal expenditures and to eliminate surplus regulations. Trump set up it by a executive regulation signed on the first day in office – 20 January 2025. The termination of his activity is scheduled for 4 July.

Sources of Politico reported in early April that Trump told his closest collaborators that Musk would leave the government in the coming weeks. Musk himself denied it. Trump said Muska would keep “until he could”.
