The National Council for Women’s Rights, a collegiate body created in 1985, sent to the President (PT) a letter defending the minister’s permanence at the head of the Ministry of Women.
The document is endorsed by about 20 entities such as Brazilian Union of Women (UBM), National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals (Antra) and evangelicals for gender equality.
Cida’s departure is given for certain by Lula’s allies in a new ministerial reform. One of the quoted names is Luciana Santos, from PC do B, today at the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In the letter, the council says that Cida management “has evidenced the commitment to advance public policies for women” and that resume “this process after the dismantling orchestrated by the conservative sectors was not and is not a simple task.”
The council says Temer that, with a change in management, this year’s edition of the National Conference of Women, scheduled for September, is threatened.
“Minister Cida Gonçalves and her team […] They represent a bold government program, committed to the lives of women. This collective is a fundamental part of the great effort to restore a affirmative policy agenda and highlight the task of rescuing Brazil to Brazilian women, “adds the letter.
The National Council for Women’s Rights calls for an agenda with the president.
