Federal Deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) spent the dawn of this Thursday (10) in the plenary of the Council of Ethics and parliamentary decorum of the House, where it was approved, the day before, the. In protest, the parliamentarian began a hunger strike and declared that he will remain in Congress until the House plenary decides on his political future.
“I’ve been 30 hours and 30 minutes for liquid ingestion,” Braga wrote at 6:30 am at X (former Twitter). “This radical tactic is the result of a political decision: I will not be defeated by Arthur Lira and the secret budget. I go to the last consequences.”

The Novo Party filed the request for cassation, accepted by the then mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and sent to the Ethics Council. The rapporteur, deputy Paulo Magalhães (PSD-BA), recommended the loss of mandate, and the opinion was approved by 13 votes to 5.
Braga states that he is the victim of political persecution by Arthur Lira. The deputy and his party were responsible for triggering the STF in 2024 against the execution of the so -called rapporteur amendments, which fought part of the destination of the secret budget. At the time, Braga accused Lira of “kidnapping the budget.”

“Cassation is the result of a political bargain,” said the deputy on other occasions.
Next Steps
The decision of the Ethics Council does not imply immediate cassation. The deputy may appeal to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), which will analyze whether there was a violation of legal and regimental rules.
If the opinion advances to the House Plenary, the cassation will only be confirmed with the favorable vote of at least 257 deputies.
