The President (PT) said on Wednesday (8) that “has the right” to indicate the substitute of, dismissed from the Ministry of Communications.
“União Brasil has the right to refer me to a successor to Juscelino, who is from União Brasil. I already have a name, I know Pedro Lucas, tomorrow morning I will talk to União Brasil and, if it is the case we discuss his appointment,” said the president to journalists in Tegucigalpa, to participate in the summit of Celac (community of Latin American and Caribbean states).
Pedro Lucas is a federal deputy for União Brasil-MA, he was vice-leader of the government in the House and is the leader of his party in the house.
According to Lula, Juscelino’s departure “does not precipitate” a broader ministerial reform. “Any government decision is a unilateral decision of the President of the Republic. Unless a party, who has a minister wants to take a minister.”
On Tuesday (8), Lula had asked Juscelino to resign after the now former minister was denounced by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) on charges of passive corruption and other crimes related to amendment of amendments.
It is suspected that, when he was still acting as a deputy, Juscelino, elected by União Brasil do Maranhão, indicated parliamentary amendments for works with irregularities performed in Vitorino Freire (MA), a city ruled by Luanna Rezende, her sister.
One of the elements used by the PF is a report by the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union) that one of the works benefited from the minister’s family properties.
The investigation began after Sheet Reveal, in 2022, that and had as a hidden partner Eduardo José Barros Costa, known as Eduardo Imperador. Prior to that, police were already investigating suspicions of a scheme of this businessman with funds from the Ministry of Education.
After having the judicial request answered, PF launched Operation Odacro, arrested Eduardo DP, as the businessman is also known, and seized his cell phones. In analyzing the devices, the corporation found that he exchanged messages with Juscelino about the destination of parliamentary amendments when the politician was still a federal deputy.
In June last year, when the PF concluded that the minister was part of a criminal organization, Lula said he would remove the politician if he were reported. His defense said on Tuesday that the politician is innocent and said he trusted the refutation of the accusations by the (Federal Supreme Court).
“The minister reaffirms his total innocence and points out that the offer of a complaint does not imply guilt, nor can it serve as an instrument for the MP [Ministério Público] Guarding the country, “his lawyers said.” We have a dangerous evidence of being returning to the punitivist time of Brazil, when the MP was talking first with the press before speaking in the case. “
