The laureate of the National Film Award Sun in the Network for the exceptional contribution of Slovak audiovisual culture, director Miloslav Luther, was presented at today’s media meeting at the Lumière Cinema Member of the Presidium of the Slovak Film and Television Academy and CEO of the Slovak Film Institute Peter Dubecký. “Miloslav Luther is an exceptional narrator of film and television stories of various genres tending to historical issues in which the existentialist relationship and manipulation of man in society dominates. He is a director of 12 feature films and more than 50 documentary and television works. He said Dubecký and stressed that the film Sleeping Account, the director of which Miloslav Luther is, won 7 sun nominations this year.

Members and members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy also decide on the winners, this time in 19 categories this year. Compared to the previous years, the category has been added to the best short feature or documentary film. “We are very pleased with the increasing interest in the awarding of the Sun in the Network. A record 49 film and television works have been entered in total and we can confirm that due to the results of the attendance in our cinemas, our homework is not only interested in artists, but it is also intensively interested in it. Independent work – whether film or television only by preserving and strengthening the support of free creation will continue to develop genre variety and increasing popularity of audiovisual works and thus contribute to the overall development of culture in Slovakia, ‟ said the President of the Slovak Film and Television Academy Katarína Krnáčová.
Spectators can watch a selection of thirteen nominated movies online in one place via the Dafilms.sk streaming platform, which has prepared a program special called Sun in the Net. The program is available for streaming by April 27. Movies can be watched online and directly on the page.

In addition to nominations, viewers will also find 22 titles on the platform, which this year are fighting for the audience award. The interest in the vote, which is already closed, literally exceeded all expectations this year – more than twice as many people were involved than in 2024.

The streaming service is not the only platform where the Slovak films nominated for the Sun in the Network can be acquainted. From 22 to 27 April, a tour of nominated films organized by the Slovak Film Institute with SFTA will be held in the Lumière cinema under the name of the Slovak Film Week. Already the 11th year will bring 10 long -time feature, documentary and animated films and will also include discussions about last year’s film production. The author of the concept and presenter in the afternoon will be the film and literary scientist Jelena Paštéková.

Also due to the record attendance of Slovak films in 2024 – more than 1.5 million spectators, the SFI will prepare a tour of all Slovak films premiered in 2024 – “May with the Slovak Film in the Lumiére cinema”.
The organizer of the National Film Awards in the Network is the Slovak Film and Television Academy, co -organizer is the Slovak Film Institute, the partner is Dafilms.sk and SOZA. The event was financially supported by the Audiovisual Fund and the Tatra banka Foundation.
The award ceremony will take place on April 16 at 19:00. For the first time in history it will be possible to watch it live online at www.slnkovsieti.sk.
