The oil must smell fresh
While the smell of fresh quality olive oil can resemble the aroma of grass, sometimes with a touch of fruit scents, as soon as it begins to lose its quality, the freshness of its smell also disappears and gradually falls into a musty odor, which can even resemble repulsive chemical odors. Do not wait for the worst, even if it seems like a waste, get rid of such an oil as soon as you feel the first signs of change.
Does not kill but can hurt
The truth is that rancid oil (most likely) will not kill you, on the other hand, the organism will not be very happy about it – and it can give you clear and quickly. The digestive problems will certainly not wait long and their intensity will be proportional to the level of oil corruption. Believe that you don’t want to try it.
Look against the light
If you have a worse sense of smell, you can also rely on visual perceptions. Fresh and quality olive oil will be clear without turbidity and its color should really have a touch of color green-golden olives. But as soon as it begins to spoil, it is possible to see fine greyish threads of the turbidity and turn the color to the darker green and later even start to brown. Even if such oil smells good – but it will not – rather say goodbye to it.
Manufacturers know what they write
Also look at the date printed on the label and do not exceed the date of the recommended consumption. Manufacturers who care about the quality of the products know how long their oil will remain in the best condition. Believe them.
Correct storage will help
Olive oil is not cheap, so we certainly want to take care of its longest durability. It is not difficult, but we must follow the basic rules. Which are they? If possible, store the oil in a dark environment – it can be a pantry, cabinet and the like. If you want to have it on hand on the line, rather pour it into a special container and store the rest off the daylight and in a place where the temperature will ideally be between 15 and 20 ° C. Never forget to close the bottle really well so that the oil does not get too much air. If you follow these rules, you can rely on the oil on the packaging all the time.
Wide use not only in the kitchen
What is it possible, and also suitable, use olive oil? You can add it to vegetable salads, fry fish and other meat on it and its other use in the kitchen is virtually unlimited. In addition, it can also be used in cosmetics, for the production of aromatic oils, as a natural polish in the care of furniture, to support health and the next day of the day. If you don’t have it at home, it may be the right moment to try it. You will be surprised how you could live without it at all.
