UFAC Medicine Athletic repudiates student's prejudiced speeches against Acreans

After the repercussion of offensive posts made by a medical student at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac), the Sinister Athletic, a representative entity of the course, released an official note repudiating the young people’s lines.

In a series of publications on X (former Twitter), made at dawn on Wednesday (9), the student referred to the acreans as “sebous people” and said she has the asco of the local population. The messages also bring attacks on the state, which she called “garden”, as well as other comments that associate beauty with the unnaturalness of Acre.

The athletic stressed that it does not compact with manifestations of prejudice, discrimination or exclusion and stressed that attitudes like this hurt human dignity and the principles of medical profession, such as empathy and social justice.

“The medicine we choose to practice is based on empathy, science and social justice – and any discourse contrary to these principles will be vehemently rejected by this institution,” says an excerpt from the note.

The Sinister Athletic, a representative entity of UFAC Medical Students, publicly expresses its total repudiation of any attitude, speech or behavior of prejudiced nature to the state of Acre.

We do not compact manifestations that disrespect human dignity, promote exclusion or discriminate any individual or group based on their origin, ethnicity, social, cultural condition or any other marker. We believe in an inclusive, plural and respectful university environment, where diversity is strength and not cause for attack.

As future health professionals, we have an ethical duty to ensure collective well-being and combat all forms of prejudice, inside and outside the university. The medicine we choose to practice is based on empathy, science and social justice – and any discourse contrary to these principles will be vehemently rejected by this institution.

We reinforce our commitment to building a safe, welcoming, and free academic community.
