Young man shot in the “Alley of the Mangueirão” can be the first target of a new wave of violence

An attempted homicide recorded on Tuesday night (8) in Epitaciolândia can mark the beginning of a new confrontation between criminal factions in the border region with Bolivia. The victim, Guilherme de Souza Pereira, 21, was shot by two hooded men in “Alley of Mangueirão”, in the Liberdade neighborhood.

According to information gathered by the authorities, the criminals ordered the victims not to move, but Guilherme tried to flee and was shot in their legs. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene shouting slogans related to a criminal faction that operates in the area.

Rescued by Samu, the young man was taken to the Alto Acre Regional Hospital with fracture in one leg. Despite the stable state of health, it should be transferred to Rio Branco, where it will undergo surgery.

The Civil Police are investigating whether the crime is related to a homicide and another recently occurred murder at the same region. Police sources indicate that the alliance between two criminal groups has been broken, which may have triggered a violent dispute over territory.

Delegate Erick Maciel, coordinator of the Alto Acre Regional, leads investigation and police reinforcement to contain the advancement of conflicts. The area where the crime occurred is considered a drug sales point and a frequent target of disputes between factions.

Authorities are still monitoring suspicious movements in the region and do not rule out new attacks. New information should be disclosed according to the advancement of investigations.
