AD wants to ban mobile phones in schools until the sixth year

What has been a recommendation so far to be a mandatory rule to comply with schools as early as September, if the democratic alliance will form government again. Forbidding mobile phones in schools is a measure already used in many countries and is part of AD’s electoral program.

According to the newspaper the proposal is contained in the PSD and CDS-PP electoral program and provides for the prohibition of the use of mobile phones in schools until the sixth year. A measure that is far from gathering consensus.

In September last year, the Ministry of Education presented to schools a set of recommendations that were autonomous to decide on the measures to apply.

“Balance is positive”

In the case of, in Matosinhos, for six years students have been prevented from using their mobile phone inside the school in closed spaces.

“The balance is positive, because the mobile phone is actually a disturbing element in the learning and educational process of young people,” says school director Paulo Gaspar.

The ban is for the first and second cycles. It will be one of the measures presented this Friday in the Electoral Program of the Democratic Alliance (AD).
