The Vice President of the Republic, made a video conferencing on Friday (11) with the China Minister of Commerce, in a context of a tariff war between the Asian country and the United States.
At the meeting, which mainly dealt with BRICS, the economic group of which Brazil and China are part, Alckmin and Minister Wang Wenta have exchanged impressions of tariff changes and agreed to defend multilateralism.
The meeting takes place days after US President Donald Trump announces a series of tariffs to countries around the world, crashing a specific clash with China, which reacted to the tariffs imposed by the American. This Friday, China’s reaction escaped by announcing that it will increase on Saturday about US products.
In this scenario, the Chinese leader said that “there is no winner in a tariff war, and going against the world will lead to isolation” and that going against the world “will lead to isolation.”
Alckmin and the minister also defended, during the connection, an international rules -based trade system with the strengthening of the WTO (World Trade Organization).
China is an important economic partner in Brazil and the two countries maintains strategic dialogue, with a prominent role in Cosban, the Sino-Brazilian Commission of high level of concertation and cooperation, chaired by its vice-presidents.
