Great descent of fuels "has less good reasons"

Opinion

José Gomes Ferreira explains that, despite being good news for consumers, fuel descent can be negative in the long run. Both the price of gasoline and diesel will fall next week.

. Gasoline will be cheaper 7.5 cents, while diesel decreases 6.5 cents.

What explains such a substantial fall? José Gomes Ferreira, Deputy Director of Information at SIC, says that There are two main reasons.

The first “has to do with the descent of the price of Crude Brent in international markets,” begins by referring to the journalist, recalling the “great impact of the measures announced by Donald Trump’s administration.”

However, and despite being “important for the consumer” news, oil descent may be negative in the long run.

“There are two indicators that seem to be favorable but actually indicate that there is a perspective of crisis: the descent of Crude Brent and the descent of interest on central banks. These are measures interpreted at first as good, but in fact they have less good reasons,” explains José Gomes Ferreira.

The second reason that explains the descent of the fuel price is “the relative appreciation of the euro in the face of the dollar”. The US currency has been falling, something that is also linked to the trade war launched by the United States.
