Lula defends Mercosur -UE Agreement in call to Denmark – 11/04/2025 – Brasilia Today

The President (PT) defended multilateralism in free trade and the completion of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, in call with Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Friday (11). The conversation occurred in a context of between countries of the world.

The imposition of new tariffs began with US President Donald Trump, who announced taxes to several countries. The largest clash, at the moment, is with China, which reacted with reciprocity to the measure, now 125% of taxation between the two countries.

In the publication, the president also criticized other political issues linked to Trump, such as the war in Ukraine and the statement of the American that would “take” the territory of Greenland.

“We talked about the current geopolitical context and indicated the willingness of Brazil and China to contribute to the end of the conflict in Ukraine through the group of Friends of Peace. I also expressed the support and solidarity of Brazil in the issue of Greenland. We agree with the importance of defending the principles of multilateralism, especially with regard to free trade,” he wrote.

Earlier, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin as well, after conversation with China Minister Wang Wenta.
