The 0.56% rise recorded by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) in March was the highest result for the month since 2023, when it had risen 0.71%, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said. In March 2024, the rate had been 0.16%. As a consequence, the accumulated rate in 12 months accelerated for the second consecutive month, from 5.06% in February 2025 to 5.48% in March 2025. The rate in 12 months is the highest since February 2023, when it was 5.60%. The accumulated IPCA in the first quarter of 2025 was 2.04%.
The IPCA closed March with a 0.56% increase in an increase of 1.31% in February. The estimates range from 0.46% to 0.59%. The rate accumulated by inflation in the year was 2.04%. The accumulated IPCA in 12 months was 5.48%, a number also slightly above the median of market projections (5.46%), which ran from 4.83%to 5.52%.
