The Minister of Institutional Relations, (PT), confirmed on Thursday (10) that the leader of the House, Pedro Lucas (MA), will be the new Minister of Communications of the Government (PT).

The announcement came after the president meets with the deputy, Gleisi, Minister Rui Costa (House Civil), the president of, (União Brasil-AP), and former Minister Juscelino Filho (União Brasil-MA).
Pedro Lucas is from the ruling wing of União Brasil and was president of the Metropolitan Executive Agency during the administration in the government of Maranhão. In his second term in the House, he assumed the leadership of the subtitle in the House this year. He is considered the closest parliamentarian of the national president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda.

An ally of Pedro Lucas acknowledges that there will be difficulties to create consensus around a new bench leader, but says that after Lula’s public statement about the parliamentarian it would be difficult to reverse his nomination to the Esplanade.
To build the new agreement on the leadership, the government allowed the new minister to take office only after Easter. Among the favorites to succeed him in the lead is Deputy Moses Rodrigues (CE).
He weighed on the choice to enter the government’s willingness to become Lula’s minister, which will expand the prestige at his electoral base, Maranhão, where the petista is supported by the majority of the population. The position can also project it to a Senate dispute.
In 2022, he received almost 160,000 votes, being the second most voted in the state. Before, he was councilor of the capital of Maranhão for two other periods, at the time affiliated to (today PRD).
On Wednesday (9), when Lula cited the name of the deputy as the first option for the ministry, stating that to discuss the possible appointment of Pedro Lucas.
“União Brasil has the right to refer me to a successor to Juscelino, who is from União Brasil. I already have a name, I know Pedro Lucas, tomorrow morning I will talk to União Brasil and, if it is the case we discuss his appointment,” said Lula.
Recently, the Union Brazil leader to accompany the President of the Republic on a mission to Japan and Vietnam – he even participated in more reserved meetings with the petista on the trip. According to Lula’s allies, the petista liked the deputy. There is also a positive assessment of his performance at the head of the leadership of the party among government parliamentarians.
Juscelino’s removal from the ministry’s leadership was a promise of Lula after the Federal Police was completed in June 2024 that the minister was part of a criminal organization. At the time, the president said he would remove him if he was reported.
Earlier, former mayor Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and Sport Minister André Fufuca-PP’s Blacks were also at the Dawn Palace. However, Gleisi stated that the two did not attend the meeting with the new minister and was not discussed about the PP space in government reform.
Asked about the signing of government deputies of the Government base in support of the project that asks the amnesty to those involved in the January 8 attacks, Gleisi said he believed that there are many “unsuspecting” parliamentarians on the project theme.
