The PL leader in the House, Deputy Sostenes Cavalcante (RJ), announced on Thursday night (10) having reached the 257 signatures necessary to submit the urgent request of the bill that proposes amnesty those involved in the scoup acts of 8 January. The number represents the minimum regimental required for the proposal to be analyzed directly in the plenary, without going through the thematic committees.
“At 10:22 pm, with the signature of Deputy Paulo Azi (União Brasil-BA), we arrived at 257 signatures. It is a victory of people who are wronged,” said Sostenes on a video released on social networks.
Despite the collection, the final decision on the request of the request (Republicans-PB), which has resisted to guide the theme and seeks a negotiated exit, also involving the Senate. Motta has reiterated that he intends to submit the proposal to a special commission, whose collegiate has not yet been installed.
Pressure of the Boconist Wing-(PL)-contrasts with the effort of moderate sectors to discuss alternative penalties or reduction of convictions, in articulation with the Supreme Court (STF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). The idea is to avoid the advancement of a wide amnesty that even reaches the articulators of January 8.
According to reports to CNNBolsonaro met this week with Hugo Motta to try to unlock the process. Motta, however, reaffirmed that he will only bring the matter to the Plenary after passing a special committee, which depends on the indication of members by the parties – a stage that has not yet been fulfilled.
The impasse exposes the crack in the chamber. Bolsonaro’s allies defend amnesty as an instrument of national pacification, while government parliamentarians claim that the proposal means rubbing crimes against the Democratic Rule of Law. In November last year, deputies of the base came to submit harmful requirements, requesting the filing of the proposal for “loss of opportunity”.
