Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet on Friday with a special envoy of the United States Steve Witkoff. Their talks will also apply to the conflict in Ukraine, but no breakthrough is expected. This was announced by the Kremlin, TASR reports based on AFP and TASS reports.
“The discussion of various aspects of the Peace Plan for Ukraine will continue,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov journalists of Russian state media. According to him, Putin will use the meeting to interpret US President Donald Trump’s position and the main interests of Moscow.
Normalization of relationships
Peskov added that the meeting will be part of the exchange of views and process of normalization of relationships between Moscow and Washington, so there should be no “breakthrough”.
Witkoff negotiated on Friday in St. Petersburg with the head of the Russian Fund of Direct Investments (RFPI) Kirill Dmitrijev, who was recently appointed a special representative of Russia for cooperation with abroad.
