Airlines aircraft aboard several members of the US Congress collided today with another aircraft from the same company on the Ronald Reagan Airport track, Washington, the US Civil Aviation Authority (FAA) said.
A Bombardier CRJ 900 operating the American Airlines flight 5490 from Washington to Charleston, South Carolina, hit the flap of an Embraer E175 that operated the 4522 flight of the same company to the New York JFK airport.
No injuries were reported except for material damage to the two aircraft, the announcement said.
FAA has requested 2,000 recruitment of air traffic controllers this year, following staff shortages that were revealed in the aftermath of the January 29th Air Tragedy. Due to the Black Hawk military helicopter collision with an American Airlines aircraft near Washington Airport, 67 people had lost their lives.
