The president of, (Brazil-AP), made harsh criticism of the Minister of Mines and Energy, (PSD), at a lunch this week with members of and the government, including the Minister of Institutional Relations (PT).
According to five politicians who were at the meeting or heard reports from the participants, the Senate president hinted that there are suspicions of corruption involving Silveira, without specifically citing what they would be.
Lunch took place on Tuesday (8) ,. At least eight people, including government members and parliamentarians, passed by.
The conversation took place during a discussion about, after on charges of.
The meeting was already previously marked to discuss the relationship of União Brasil with the federal government. Faced with the complaint, however, Juscelino’s departure was the most discussed theme at the table.
A Sheet It has found that this is not the first time the Senate president has been innuendo against the minister, according to politicians who have been with the senator in recent weeks.
Sought, Alcolumbre’s advisory stated: “Senate and National Congress President Senator Davi Alcolumbre will not comment on false intrigues and speculation that are not true. His priority is to continue working to improve the lives of Brazilians.”
Silveira’s team said the minister “does not comment on gossip”. “Even by understanding that President David would never make any kind of untrue or malicious statement on him. He also regrets the attempt to create intrigue between the two, since he has maintained an extremely respectful relationship for years,” he says in a statement.
Silveira arrived at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, in the assembly of the government (), in the quota of his party, the PSD, with the support of Alcolumbre and former Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).
Alcolumbre, however, broke with Silveira and has transmitted to government members, since the end of last year, his discontent with the minister’s performance.
In these conversations, he has said that Silveira no longer has his support to stay at the post, as he would have lost the support of other former allies of the minister, such as Pacheco and other senators.
Several politicians claim that Alcolumbre makes an explicit articulation to try to overthrow Silveira from the post.
The senator has stated, for example, that the former ally now is from Lula’s personal quota-or that is, no longer represents the political group that indicated him for the vacancy. This movement happens at a time when Centrão members have expectations that the petista can make new changes in his ministry.
PSD members, however, say that a possible exchange in charge of the folder can further intensify the dissatisfaction of members of the subtitle with the government. The party bench in the House, for example, says that it no longer feels represented by the Ministry of Fisheries and claims a more robust portfolio.
At the end of last year that, in order to expand his influence on public administration, Silveira made movements that did not gain support of former Senate Allies, while approaching directly to the President of the Republic. Disagreements involve indications for regulatory agencies.
According to Lula assistants, Alcolumbre has already brought these complaints to the president himself. In and the mayor, (Republicans-PB), he criticized Silveira and reported that the minister no longer had support from the senators to stay in office.
According to parliamentarians who heard the account of this meeting, Lula would have responded that a minister only remains in office if he has a political backing – a rase that was interpreted by the congressmen as a sign that the petista could dismiss Silveira.
The interpretation of nearby politicians is that building a personal relationship with the president gave the minister for strength to stay in office so far.
A Centrão Cardinal says, however, that one of Alcolumbre’s main missions now is to see Silveira out of office on the Esplanade. Even Lula’s allies recognize that it will be difficult to contain the pressure that the Senate president has been making for resignation.
Alcolumbre and Silveira traveled together at the end of March. According to reports of three people who were on the trip, the minister did not interact with either the president of the Senate or with Pacheco.
