To prepare this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 head of young, white cabbage,
  • 2 onions,
  • 2 carrots,
  • 2 tomatoes,
  • 1 red pepper,
  • 200 g of pork sausage (e.g. Silesian or Podwawelska),
  • handful of dried mushrooms,
  • 2 tablespoons of concentrate or tomato puree,
  • 3 bay leaves,
  • several grains of allspice,
  • 2 juniper grains,
  • soli,
  • pepper in grains,
  • rapeseed oil for frying.

Soak the mushrooms in warm boiled water. Cut them into smaller pieces. Wash the cabbage under running water and dry thoroughly. Cut off the leaves from the outside and hard parts. Cut into smaller parts to make it easier to cut. Then chop the cabbage very finely. Put her into a pot and pour it so that the water only covers her. Also transfer mushrooms along with a few tablespoons of water in which they soaked. Add allspice, juniper, bay leaves, salt quite hard and add pepper. Boil, reduce the fire and leave it.

Peel the carrots, grate them on a grater. Add to the cabbage and simmer. Cut the seed nest from red pepper, cut it into small cubes or thin strips. Add to cabbage and carrots. Simmer for about 30 minutes until the vegetables are completely softened, but they do not overcook. Mix quite often so that sweet cabbage stew does not burn.

At this time, peel and chop the onions finely. Cut the sausage into half slices. Fry the whole in a hot pan with oil. Transfer to the pot.

Cut the tomatoes into smaller parts. Add them to the pot together with tomato concentrate or puree. Stir and simmer for about an hour. If necessary, season with salt and pepper again.
