The senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES) and the federal deputy Ubiratan Sanderson (PL-RS) discussed, this Friday (11), in The Great Debate (Monday to Friday at 23h), If the former president’s trip Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to the Chamber facilitates the processing of the bill that aims amnesty the condemned to attacks on January 8.
O They gathered last Wednesday (9) to discuss the measure.
The meeting served as an attempt by the former president to sensitize Hugo to guide the project. The PL leader in the House, Gostenes Cavalcante (RJ), said he has already obtained the 257 signatures necessary for the proposal to be urgently.
Sanderson believes that the project’s protagonism is not focused on the former president.
“He is one of the actors involved in this whole process. I would say that the protagonism is in the Brazilian Parliament, in the National Congress, Chamber and Senate,” said Sanderson.
“It is good to remember that the issue of amnesty came in the Brazilian Parliament because the Supreme Court, Ministers of the Supreme Court, have exaggerated too much in the decisions, the sentences. The difference between medicine and poison is the dose,” he continued, remembering that “President Bolsonaro is not the subject of this amnesty.”
“Amnesty comes at an ideal moment, will appease the spirits. It is a constitutional instrument that will pacify Brazil, I’m sure,” concluded the deputy of the PL.
Already Contarato argues that Bolsonaro’s trip to the House does not help in the process.
“His trip does not help, on the contrary. We have a very bad history of former President Bolsonaro’s participation regarding attacks on institutions,” Contarato said.
“He systematically attacked the media. He gave a demonstration that he does not know how to live in a democracy. He encouraged what happened on the 8th,” the senator continued.
“President Bolsonaro became a defendant for paying attention against our democracy. We have already gone through a dictatorial period and we know what it is. What is the signal we will give to the population and democracy when we wave by amnesty?” He concluded.
