Following the decision of the Ethics Council, which approved the request for cassation last Wednesday (9), the parliamentarian announced that he will only leave the place after the end of the case
The Federal Deputy (PSOL-RJ) remains in the plenary of this Saturday (12), where he promises to spend the weekend in protest against the process that can result in the revocation of his mandate. After the decision of the Ethics Council, which approved the request for revocation last Wednesday (9), the parliamentarian announced that he will only leave the place after the end of the process and will continue on hunger strike.
Braga claimed to be without feeding for more than three days. He has slept on the floor of the House Plenary 5, the same where he was tried, and says that since the start of the strike, he has lost two pounds. He even had blood and urine tests, and has consumed saline at the request of the medical team. According to the parliamentarian’s advisory, blood collections point out that he is well in health, and the result of the urine exam will be released next week.
“I’m on hunger strike for 3 days and 6 hours. I follow here sleeping in the same Plenary of the Ethics Council that recommended my cassation. My act is a cry of denunciation. Arthur Lira has a lot of power and money but he can’t everything. The secret budget can’t buy my head!” Wrote Braga on her X profile on Saturday morning.
The lawsuit against Glauber was opened in 2024 after he kicked out, the influencer Gabriel Costenaro, from the Brazil Livre Movement (MBL), from the House facilities. The episode took place on April 16, after Costenaro hints at the former mayor of Nova Friburgo, Saudade Braga, mother of the deputy, who was at the time sick. She died 22 days later.
The former mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), is the main target of the psoilist’s criticism. Glauber claims that the process was conducted behind the scenes with the support of Lira.
