The federal government has announced a new vaccination campaign to be held in public schools across the country, starting next Monday. This initiative aims to update the vaccination book of more than 27 million students, covering children and adolescents under 15 years. The action, which will take place between April 14 and 25, is the result of a partnership between the Ministries of Health and Education, integrating the Health at School Program. The campaign aims to promote protection against various diseases, ensuring full health care within the school environment.
The campaign involves 5,544 municipalities and 109,800 public schools. With an ambitious goal of vaccinating 90% of students in the mentioned age group, the government invested $ 150 million to make this mobilization viable. Health agents of the Unified Health System (SUS) and health posts near schools will be responsible for vaccination, always with the proper authorization of those responsible for the students. In addition, there will be a thorough verification of vaccination booklets to identify and update any missing vaccines.
Among the vaccines that will be administered are the yellow fever, triple viral (measles, mumps and rubella), DTP (triple bacterial) and HPV. To facilitate access to vaccination information, the child’s digital booklet is available in my Digital SUS app, allowing those responsible to follow the students’ vaccination history. The ministers Alexandre Padilha, of Health, and Camilo Santana, of Education, highlighted the importance of this campaign. Padilha said Brazil has the potential to become a world vaccination world champion, while Santana assured that all public schools will receive the necessary vaccines to ensure the health of students.
