As well as “Super Mario Bros. The Movie”, from 2023, the Long newly released “A Minecraft Movie” apparently came out of nowhere and won the Gold at the ticket offices.
But no one should be surprised: video game adaptations are becoming an increasingly vital part of the market, and some say they are about to replace superheroes as “the dominant intellectual property of.”
Not every popular game adaptation is a guarantee of success – just see “Borderlands: The Destiny of the Universe is at stake”, released last year, as well as “Uncharted: Out of Map” (2022) and the “Tomb Raider: The Origin” (2018) reboot. Critics and fans pointed out that these movies failed to capture the story and magic of the original experience of the games.
On the other hand, the adaptations that work, as expected, are generating continuation and new seasons for TV, with new confirmed chapters of “Super Mario Bros. “The Legend of Zelda” (2027)
The announcement that this iconic franchise-known simply as “Zelda”-will win a live-action movie in 2027 almost broke the internet last month. And no wonder: the games in the series are at the same level of importance as those of Super Mario Bros. The film will be directed by Wes Ball, responsible for the film franchise “Maze Runner: Run or die”.
“Until Dawn” (April 24)
Like other following titles, such as “Five Nights at Freddy’s – The Endless Nightmare” and “Terror in Silent Hill,“ Until Dawn ”shows how horror combines perfectly with the gaming universe.
The game became a frightening movie that opens later this month, starring Odessa A’zion (from the reboot of “Hellraiser: Reborn from Hell, 2022). The plot follows a group trapped in a temporal looping that needs to survive until dawn. Mixture of “Time Spell”, “The Secret of the Cabin” and a touch of “13 Ghosts”.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” (December 5)
The adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s – The Endless Nightmare,” launched in 2023, was a success, capitalizing on the popularity of the survival game.
Now the sequel brings back Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio and the veteran of “Panic”, Matthew Lillard, as well as the cast like McKenna Grace and Wayne Knight (from “Jurassic Park” and “Seinfeld”).
“Return to Silent Hill” (sem data confirmada)
The “Silent Hill” horror and mystery franchise returns to theaters with “Return to Silent Hill”. Christophe Gans, who directed the original 2006 film starring Radha Mitchell, returns to run the new production, inspired by the 2001 Silent Hill 2 game
The story follows James Sunderland (played by Jeremy Irvine), who returns to the mysterious city after receiving a letter apparently sent by a love of the past.
Pokémon sequence: Detective Pikachu ”(no confirmed date)
Although Pikachu has already made other appearances outside the video games, it seems that the character will return to the big screen in a sequel to the movie Live-Action “Detective Pikachu”, which featured Ryan Reynolds.
The second movie was announced shortly before the first debut, but it is not yet known if the original cast will return.

Amazon Studios is developing a series based on the acclaimed game “God of War: Ragnarok”. Production must closely follow the 2022 game narrative, where Kratos, the Greek God of war, and his son Atreus embark on a journey through Nordic mythology to honor Kratos’ deceased wife.

What could be better than exploring a dystopian cyberpunk city in the skin of a nice cat trying to go home? Yes – remember a little flow, the Oscar winner for best animation this year.
Annapurna Pictures, which developed the game “Stray” in 2022, is working on an animated adaptation based on this title beloved by fans.
