STF condemns 17 by January 8; Mendonça and Nunes Marques diverge

Penalty will be 1 year of imprisonment for 16 of those involved, in addition to a fine of R $ 5 million in collective compensation

O STF (Federal Supreme Court) voted to order 17 more defendants accused of participating in the January 8 extremist acts. The score was 9 x 2. Ministers André Mendonça and Nunes Marques voted against.

The trial was made in a virtual plenary. It began on April 4 and ended this Friday (11.abr).

The rapporteur of the lawsuits, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, voted for 16 accused to receive the penalty of 1 year of imprisonment and pay 20 fine days of half a minimum wage at the time of the event, and R $ 5 million in compensation for collective moral damages.

In 1 of the 17 cases in trial, Anilton da Silva Santos, in addition to the fine of R $ 5 million collectives, the proposed penalty is higher, 2 years and 5 months imprisonment, which can also be replaced by alternative measures.
