Negotiations in the mask took place in separate rooms, while the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs of Badr Al-Busajdí acted as an intermediary.

Maskat: About two hours lasted interviews between Iran’s representatives and the United States about Tehran nuclear program, which took place on Saturday in the mask, the capital of Oman. Both delegations should meet again next week, world agencies informed about the Iranian media.

Negotiations in the mask took place in separate rooms, while the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs of Badr Al-Busajdí acted as an intermediary. A reporter of the Iranian news agency Tasim described the atmosphere of the interviews as positive. The information about their outcome was not immediately published.

Iran represented Foreign Minister Abbas Arakči, who participated in negotiations with the World Powers on the Iranian nuclear program as early as 2013 to 2015. US President Donald Trump’s administration was represented by a special envoy Steve Witkoff.

In a friendly atmosphere

The head of Omani diplomacy, whose country has long played the role of an intermediary between Iran and Western states, stated in the X post that the interviews have been conducted in a “friendly atmosphere” and the beginning of the efforts for a “fair and binding agreement”. He thanked Arakči and Witkoff for the meeting that took place “in a friendly atmosphere”.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that Arakčí and Witkoff said “a few minutes” together after the negotiations. According to him, the interviews were constructive and the “atmosphere of mutual respect”.

In March, Trump proposed Iran negotiations on a new nuclear agreement, but at the same time warned against a military response if Tehran does not agree to limit his nuclear program. After a few days, Tehran finally agreed to the negotiations, apparently partly in the hope that it will achieve the abolition of sanctions imposed mainly by the US, which are considered the main cause of the current economic problems of Iran.
