USA report that talking to Iran about nuclear program was ‘a step ahead’ for negotiations

It stated that diplomatic conversations held on Saturday (12) between the United States and Iran were “positive and constructive” and a “step ahead to get a mutually beneficial result.” During the meeting held in Mascate (Oman) between the special envoy of the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Araqchi, the American reiterated to the Iranian that “received instructions from the president (Donald) Trump to resolve, if possible, the differences between the two nations through dialogue and diplomacy”, explained the US presidential cabinet in Brief communication.

“The conversations were very positive and constructive, and the United States are deeply grateful to the Sultanato de Oman for their support for this initiative,” continues the text about the meeting, which Tehran has already indicated that it lasted about two and a half hours and said that it had occurred in a “constructive atmosphere.”

“These questions are very complex, and the direct communication of the Witkoff special envoy today represented a confirmed step in obtaining a beneficial subsidiary result,” the statement concluded, noting that, as the Islamic country has already announced, both sides will meet again next Saturday, April 19, in Mascate.

Prior to the US statement, the Iran Foreign Ministry said Araqchi and Witkoff “shared their positions” on the Iranian nuclear program and US evaluations “in a constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect.” During the conversations, both sides sat in separate rooms and exchanged four messages through Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Bin Hamad Al Busaidi, despite Washington’s insistence that communications would be “straightforward.”

In turn, the US emphasized that they wanted to expand the spectrum of negotiations to include also the missile systems of and their support for regional groups, such as the Hethis do Yemen and the Lebanese terrorist Hezbollah, while Iran indicated that it wanted to limit its focus to its nuclear program. These differences occurred after US President Donald Trump himself warned several times about possible attacks on Iran if Aiatollahs did not agree to negotiate an agreement.
