Admitted on Friday to a Christmas hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain as a result of an intestinal obstruction, former President Jair Bolsonaro said his condition is stable and remains recovering, without new surgery, at least for now.
Bolsonaro, 70, felt severe abdominal pain when he was visiting the city of Santa Cruz, in the interior Potiguar, as part of a spin from various locations in the country. Then he was transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Natal, where he will spend the night.
“Thank God, my picture is stable and I keep recovering, without fever and with good clinical evolution. The last information we have is that, for now, there is no need for new surgery,” the former president in social network published, in a post accompanied by a photo of him in a hospital bed, making a positive sign.
“With the help of doctors and the protection of God, I will soon be back, ready to resume my mission to travel the five regions of Brazil,” he added, thanking prayers for his improvement.
Medical bulletin released in the late afternoon reported that Bolsonaro was hemodynamically stable, with no need for pressure control, asymptomatic and without the use of painkillers. Also according to the newsletter, the former president was receiving antibiotics venously and kept in zero diet. A central venous access was made when a large -caliber vein catheter is inserted, where it receives parenteral diet.
“The patient remains hospitalized, under the care of the medical and multiprofessional team of the Rio Grande Hospital, with continuous clinical follow -up and direct supervision of the surgical team,” said the newsletter. “New updates will be provided according to the evolution of the clinical picture.”

The doctor Luiz Roberto Leite Fonseca, technical director of the hospital where Bolsonaro is hospitalized, said that the former president will stay overnight in the hospital and that there is no transfer forecast at the moment.
Earlier, he had already ruled out the need for surgery at the moment, stating that the former president was clinically stable.
Surgeon Antonio Macedo, Bolsonaro’s personal doctor, said earlier by phone Reuters That, in case of need for longer hospitalization, the former president could be transferred to São Paulo.

Bolsonaro’s party PL said it was “dismayed” with the former president’s latest health problem and attributed abdominal pain to the stab suffered by September 2018 in Juiz de Fora (MG) while campaigning in that year’s presidential election-won by him.
Bolsonaro has suffered other episodes of intestinal obstruction in recent years, which his doctors have pointed out to be a consequence of surgeries in the abdominal region to which he was undergoing after the stab.
Last month, the former president became a defendant before the Supreme Federal Court (STF) accused of leading an attempt to coup after being defeated in the 2022 presidential election.

In addition to this and other cases he still faces in the Supreme Court, Bolsonaro is also ineligible by 2030 due to two convictions in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for abuse of political power in the 2022 election campaign.
