Following what “serious episodes” ranking on matchday 29, namely at Santa Clara – Sporting, the Luz club expresses concern and appeals to “competence and rigor” until the end of the championship.
Just minutes after the final whistle in Luz, Sport Lisboa e Benfica issued a critical statement to the arbitration of the 29th round, which ends this Sunday with the meeting between Moreirense and Rio Ave.
The manifest “profound concern” in the face of the serious episodes experienced in this journey in terms of arbitration “and gives as an example what happened yesterday on the islands.
“In the Azores, a clear penalty against Sporting was ignored”, in a match arbitrated by Claudio Pereira, and today “in Luz, a nonexistent penalty was scheduled against Benfica”, a meeting directed by António Nobre.
For these reasons, “competence and rigor is required in the remaining journeys until the end of the championship”.
“The sporting truth of the competition cannot be distorted by bad arbitration decisions, especially when there is Var whose mission is to avoid and correct rude errors,” concluded Benfica’s statement.
