Bolsonaro does new tests; Medical team evaluates need for surgery

Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) held, on Saturday night (12), a series of image and laboratory tests that, according to the medical team, will serve to evaluate the need for surgery.

According to Leandro Echenique, who makes up the medical staff of the former president of DF Star Hospital, Bolsonaro presents a “stable” clinical picture. “Image exams will be fundamental to the next conduct and the definition of treatment,” he told reporters.

According to the doctor, a possible surgical procedure will be quite “extensive” as it consists of open surgery to correct intestinal obstruction. A medical report, with the details of the next steps, should be released on Sunday morning (13).

Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) visited Bolsonaro in the federal capital. According to the parliamentarian, the right leader is “humorous” and “quiet”.

Bolsonaro was hastily hospitalized on Friday after feeling severe abdominal pain while attending a political event in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte.

Clinical picture

According to the last medical report, released at 11am on Saturday by the medical team of Rio Grande Hospital, Bolsonaro has evolved stable in the last 24 hours and had a quiet night’s sleep.

“It has excellent mood, reduction of abdominal distension and remains without analgesia. All vital signs and complementary examinations remain within normality, without clinical complications to date,” the statement says.

The former president “follows in venous hydration through central catheter, using parenteral nutrition, maintenance of previously instituted antibiotic therapy, with open nasogastric probe and regular use of other prescribed medications.”
