Cucumber cultivation in the garden
Juicy and tasty – cucumbers are definitely one of the most popular vegetables in Polish cuisine. Although botanical ones are classified, cucumbers (just like) are treated as vegetables. Cucumbers are a real wealth of vitamins and minerals. They contain, among others, they contain vitamins C, B, E, K, as well as A and Folates. Their taste and properties make many people decide to grow cucumbers in their own garden. Such cucumbers are fully natural, without artificial fertilizers and pesticides.
Cucumber cultivation in the garden is not difficult. Seedlings do not require specialist care. However, it is worth knowing how to fertilize them so that they grow better. One of the most common problems in the cultivation of cucumbers is the fact that the fruit is empty inside. Most often this happens due to too little water and the lack of necessary nutrients. Also, keeping the cucumbers on the bush can cause them to be empty. Cucumbers are best picked when they are medium -sized – about 10-15 cm long.

In order for cucumbers to have constant access, it is worth fertilizing them. Among the gardeners, one of the most popular ways is milk conditioner. It strengthens the roots, provides phosphorus and potassium, and also improves soil structure. Soda is also another way to fertilize cucumbers. This is a slightly less known, but equally effective way. Baking soda helps reduce the acidity of the earth and accelerates plant growth. The shoots become thicker and grow faster. In addition, baking soda protects against pest attacks and fungal diseases. You can use baking soda in the cultivation of cucumbers in 2 ways:
- Spraying – will protect seedlings against pests and diseases such as powdery mildew, meets, leaf mildew.
- Homemade fertilizer – strengthen seedlings, improve their growth and stimulate fruiting.
To use baking soda in the cultivation of cucumbers, just mix 1 tablespoon of soda with 1 liter of water. Such a mixture will work for both watering and spraying of seedlings
