Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo warns irregular products or out of validity

Several brands of chocolate eggs and different types of fish are already available to the consumer for the Easter period. However, warns the (Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo), the population needs to be aware not to purchase irregular products or do not make a mistake at the time of purchases.

The 1st IPEM tip is about chocolate eggs that contain toys like gifts. When buying such a product, you need to be aware if the package is stamped to the sentence “ATTENTION: Contains certified toy within the Brazilian System of Conformity Evaluation”. It is also necessary to verify that there is indication of age group.

According to IPEM, this information indicates that the toy underwent tests and will not pose risks to the health of the child. The tip is not worth if the toast offered is a mug or briefcase, which are not classified as toys.

Another tip is to analyze whether there is a liquid weight indication in the packaging of any product, such as chocolate eggs, chocolates or colombas (type of cake or bread). The weight should only refer to the product, disregarding the value of the packaging or gifts.

Fish

As for fish, the institute’s tip is for the consumer to be aware of the purchase of fresh fish. If they are in fairs or markets, it is important that the consumer always follows their weighing.

If you want the fish to be packed with ice, you must observe if the seller will not weigh the fish after placing the ice. But if you are buying, pre-boarded or frozen fish, the consumer may request the weight of the product weight on a balance of the establishment, remembering that, in this case, it is necessary to consider the liquid weight of the fish and also the weight of the packaging.

For more consumer tips, Ipem-SP makes available, which can be downloaded through the Institute’s website.

If in doubt or referral of complaints, the consumer can look for the IPEM-SP ombudsman by calling 0800 013 05 22, from Monday to Friday, from 8h to 17h; by email or by.
